World Mental Health Day celebrates awareness for the global community in an empathetic way, with a unifying voice, helping those feel hopeful by empowering them to take action and to create lasting change.
This is the official statement of World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) with regards to World Mental Health Day, celebrated on the 10th of October 2019. These words were echoed by Dr. Alberto Trimboli, President WFMH, in his ‘Message from the WFMH President’.
WFMH is an international membership organization founded in 1948 to advance, among all peoples and nations, the prevention of mental and emotional disorders, the proper treatment and care of those with such disorders, and the promotion of mental health.
In joining the global community to support the efforts of the WFMH, members of the Professional Speakers association of Namibia (PSAN) collaborated to write and compile a collection of articles addressing mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
The result of their effort isthe PSAN Mental Health and Suicide Prevention ebook, a free ebook you can download to read.
It is our desire as an association of thought leaders and those who are given the tremendous privilege of the stage, to collectively engage in bringing awareness to mental health and suicide prevention.
We hope these articles will inspire, encourage, educate and connect with people to heighten public awareness about the importance of mental health, and to gain understanding and improve attitudes towards suicide prevention.
While this publication might only be words on a screen or a page, we hope they will be enough to maybe someday save someone’s life.
